Brodie finally had his FIRST t-ball game on Tuesday night. He had practices on June 7 and 14 and EVERY game has been rained out since.

It was pretty amusing to see 5 and 6 year old playing. They run all over, they don't know where to stop or when to keep going. Brodie's "stats" were 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 out (even though they don't keep score in t-ball). He had a great time. He has another game tonight, one on Saturday and next Tuesday. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate.

My SIL is coming today. The kids are excited to see her after a year.

Good for AFLAC

AFLAC announced today that they are pulling their ads from The Savage Nation after the disgusting remarks made last week by Mike Savage about children with Autism. He claimed that "in 99% of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out." He also used words like "idiots" and "morons."

Festa

We went to Festa Italiana today. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that admission was free until 3:30. We went sans stroller. I think the girls did quite well on their "leashes"...except for when some guy in a major hurry took Cate down in one long stride. Arancini (rice balls) and deep fried eggplant isn't as good when it's almost 90 degrees out, in case anyone is wondering.

Brodie was disappointed to not get to ride any rides, but cripes, it was a rip-off. Tickets were $1 each, and each ride was about 4 tickets. Family of five riding the carousel? Um, no. I think he was appeased by a chocolate covered marshmallow on a stick and little carved wooden recorder. The girls were kept happy with some red, green and white bead necklaces. They all fell asleep in the car on the way home, so we took a scenic route.

Dinner was ridiculously simple after all the junk we ate. I put out a huge tray of raw veggies, dip, and some cheese and crackers. All of us have a touch of sunburn. The tip of Cailey's nose is a little pink, because she insists on wearing her sunhat like Ed Norton. I'm anticipating a solid night's sleep.

Back by semi-popular demand.

I'm still asked by a few people why I stopped doing my Blog. I don't have any good reasons, other than I'm lazy and have other Internet addictions to feed. So what's new?

I will be "demoted" from third grade to second grade this fall, at my request. I'm excited to back with the "little" kids. No more screaming and gagging during the crayfish unit. Second grade does have an insect unit, but as long as they are smaller than a quarter and don't have pincers, I'll be okay...I hope.

The girls are potty training, and it is going surprisingly well. I'm amazed at how much easier this is than with Brodie. I do a lot of running back and forth, but I've also gone low-tech. No rewards, no charts, no stickers, etc. You go, you flush, you wash. Yay! The end.

We're planning our first family vacation (sort of) to the East coast. The girls will not be joining us. We're going to spend some quality time with Brodie who so often winds up in the shadow of Little Miss Piss and Little Miss Vinegar. We'll be taking the Civic instead of the van which will help tremendously with gas costs. I'm excited to stay with some friends out East, too.

Brodie will be starting kindergarten at the end of August. He is very excited, and God help his teacher. He continues to be a walking encyclopedia and constantly has his nose in non-fiction books and wildlife magazines. His reading skills are still mind-boggling to us. He's also starting to count money and knows several addition facts.

The girls will be starting their second year at daycare in the fall, and they couldn't be happier. This summer they are all about wearing sunglasses, watching the birds in the yard, and being generally weird. The twinspeak is bizarre. I am living the movie Nell. Their hobbies are singing, dancing, fighting, and spraying spittle into sunbeams to make "snow." Which leads me to the recent bouts of sickness in the house; all three kids have just recently recovered from Strep (getting it about 4-5 days apart, of course) and the girls also had hand/foot/mouth disease, which is as disgusting as it sounds.

What am I doing? Twitching, drinking in the evenings, hanging out on the computer with my imaginary friends...

Leaving for Charleston....

Just one more day....

So I'm catching some flack...

..about not updating my Blog.

Well, I've been a wee bit busy. Let's see....since August 14th, I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the Baltimore-DC area with my friends that live in my computer, and oh, yeah- I went back to work.

It's been two months, and I have somewhat of a routine down, but it's still kicking my butt. I get up at 5:30, leave the house at 7:00, and I usually get home around 4:30. It makes for a long day for the kids, too. Especially Brodie. He loves full-day preschool, but I sense he's getting restless there. The girls love daycare, too. They are just full of new words and discoveries. Cate likes to refer to her siblings as Cay-wee Anne and Bobie. Tonight the girls were holding hands and running around the house.

The girls turned 2 last months and we had a little party here at the house...pizza, cake, and ice cream. This weekend, we had Brodie's party. He had a jungle party with a hippo cake. A few of his friends were there, and it was a nice time.

I went to the ER after the party and after a 3 1/2 hour stay, was diagnosed with Strep Throat, which I haven't had since my first year of teaching. I have to stay home tomorrow so until the antibiotics kick in. I'm going to miss the first day of the WKCE 3rd grade test. Not good, but I don't have much of a choice.

Not much else. Hopefully I can keep up with this a little while longer.

Dear Tom

Dear Tom,

Thank you for being such a wonderful father and husband. I love you so much and thank you for your years of support.

I regret to inform you that if you don't stop leaving bottlecaps, dirty tissues, assorted food wrappers and the like on top of the entertainment center, I will have to smother you in your sleep.

There are garbage receptacles all located within 20 paces of each other, just like at theme parks, just for your convenience.

Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.
